Candidates agree

to partial recount

MADISON - State election officials say they plan to ordercounties to begin a recount in the state Supreme Court race onWednesday.

A spokesman for the Government Accountability Board said theboard plans to hold a teleconference with local election officialson Monday. He said the board anticipates issuing the start order onWednesday. Counties have two days to begin after the order isissued.

County tallies completed last week show incumbent Justice DavidProsser with a 7,316-vote lead over challenger JoAnne Kloppenburg.She asked the board for a statewide recount on Wednesday.

Kloppenburg and Prosser's campaigns on Thursday agreed in courtto a hand recount in precincts across 31 counties where electronicvoting machines' memory cartridges are full.

Not guilty plea made in threat case

MADISON - Not guilty pleas have been entered for a Wisconsinwoman charged with making death threats to Republican statelawmakers.

Twenty-six-year-old Katherine Windels stood mute Thursday in DaneCounty Circuit Court. A court commissioner entered the pleas for herto two misdemeanor counts of making threats over a computer. Shealso has been charged with two felony counts of making bomb threats.

A criminal complaint alleges Windels threatened to shoot thesenators and plant bombs around their houses and the Capitol becauseof their votes in favor of a bill curtailing collective-bargainingrights for state employees. The commissioner set a signature bond onthe condition that Windels doesn't use the Internet for anythingother than work or school and doesn't visit the Capitol.

Windels' attorney did not immediately return calls requestingcomment.

Poll finds even split on Walker recall

MADISON - A new poll suggests Wisconsinites would be about evenlysplit on the question of recalling Gov. Scott Walker.

The idea of recalling the Republican governor arose duringprotests over his efforts to remove collective-bargaining rightsfrom most public employees. The question is moot for now, sinceelected officials must be in office for one year before they can berecalled. Walker was inaugurated in January.
